The Philips Livable Cities Award is an initiative designed to generate practical, achievable ideas for improving the health and well-being of people living in cities. Individuals, community or non-governmental organizations and businesses are eligible to participate in the Award program that comprises a total prize fund amounting to 125,000 Euros.
With the aim of developing simple solutions to the complex challenges faced by the residents of cities today, the program consists of three distinct award categories:

Well-being Outdoors: initiatives that will help citizens feel safe in public spaces or help create city identity and foster a sense of belonging

Independent Living: initiatives that will help the growing number of elderly people living alone to feel secure and comfortable in a city, with appropriate access to healthcare

Healthy Lifestyle at Work and Home: initiatives that will support a healthy body and mind, whether through a person’s surroundings or via other essentials such as exercise, sleep and diet.

An overall award of 75,000 Euros will be granted for the best idea submitted in any of the three categories. There will also be two additional awards of 25,000 Euros each for the best submissions in the two categories not covered in the overall award. The award criteria will be developed by an international panel of experts chaired by Richard Florida, author of The Great Reset, Director of the Martin Prosperity Institute and Professor of Business and Creativity at Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.

It can also be one of the most difficult claims to prove. And, it can be very intimidating to try to accuse a medical professional of not performing their duty.

Yet, it has quickly became one of the most common occurrences around the world. By holding a medical professional accountable for a mistake or error that has endangered your health and well being, you’re only seeking justice for yourself or loved one. But, you’re also helping to protect other people from suffering the same fate in the future.

Most people automatically assume that because a medical professional is well trained and has experience, they are immune from making mistakes. More and more today, we are seeing that this isn’t true as countless cases of negligence are being reported each year.

Medical negligence occurs any time that a health care provider does something, or fails to do something that results in pain, suffering or death. Although most cases of negligence are certainly unintentional, health care providers are held to a high standard of patient care and are responsible for giving each individual patient the competent care and attention that they require.

Negligence can occur to anyone of any age, even an unborn fetus can be severely affected by mistakes in proper care during a pregnancy, or by medications that are prescribed to the mother. Literally no one is completely safe from the dangers and threats that medical negligence pose.

If you suspect that a medical condition has worsened due to improper treatment, a misdiagnosis, or the wrong medications, you should consider speaking with a lawyer. While it might be a long, difficult process, you are entitled to compensation for any mistakes and errors that a medical professional has made.
