Acne is a condition in which the skin pores become clogged, inflamed and sometimes infected. These clogged pores can become hot spots, bars or grain. In severe cases, it can form abscesses and boils that can result in deforming scars if they express the grains. Acne tends to occur in adolescents, but may also occur in adults.

Acne caused by hormonal imbalance is usually influenced by the presence of androgens in the body. Androgen hormones stimulate the sebaceous glands of segregation.
