2 cloves of garlic, mashed

1 tablespoon of your favorite seasoning mix

Salt and pepper

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Remove excess water from the mashed tofu by patting it with a dry paper towel. Mix all ingredients except the vegetable oil in a bowl. Form medium-sized patties and prepare them for frying. Heat the vegetable oil in a shallow pan. In a medium heat, fry the burgers for at least 3 minutes per each side. Place on whole-wheat buns. Makes 6 burgers. Serve and enjoy.

You can change and create other burger recipes by following these guidelines:

·         Use a base ingredient that’s low-fat or fat free. Chicken, cabbage, and even bananas could make a delicious yet healthy burger.

·         Experiment with different spices and seasoning mixes. These mixes enhance the flavor of burgers and cover up bitterness of the vegetables it may contain. You can also use herbs added aroma and flavor.

·         Use relishes that are fresh, fat-free, and healthy. Add pickles, lettuce, and tomatoes to increase the nutrition you get from eating a healthy burger. Avoid using mayonnaise. If you cannot ditch the mayo, Mix 1-2 tablespoons of mayo with 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt for a healthier condiment.
